Supreme Court declines to hear Trump's appeal in the E. Jean Carroll case

BBC News

The Supreme Court declined to hear President Trump’s appeal of the 2023 civil verdict in which a jury found he sexually abused and defamed the writer E. Jean Carroll, leaving the roughly $5 million in damages intact, the BBC reported . The Court’s refusal to take the case ends Trump’s effort to overturn the judgment, which a federal appeals court had already affirmed.

The order resolves only this case; it does not disturb the separate $83.3 million defamation award Carroll won in a related 2024 trial, which remains on its own appellate track.
