US permits limited release of Anthropic's Mythos model to select companies

The federal government will permit Anthropic to release its Mythos model to a select group of companies, The Hill reported , a narrowing of the restrictions that had blocked broad access to the model.

The decision partially reverses a stance taken earlier in June, when Washington moved to restrict exports of Anthropic’s most capable models amid concerns over misuse and over the model’s susceptibility to jailbreaks. Limiting release to vetted firms is a middle path: it lets approved customers use the model while keeping it out of wider distribution, the same gatekeeping logic the administration has applied to advanced chips. Which companies qualify, and on what conditions, will determine how much the easing actually matters.
