Rockstar sets GTA 6 for November launch at $80, single-player only

Variety

Rockstar Games, the Take-Two Interactive studio behind Grand Theft Auto, confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will release November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with pre-orders opening June 25. The standard edition is priced at $79.99 and an ultimate edition at $99.99.

Two details stand out. The $79.99 base price extends the industry’s move past the long-standing $60 ceiling for major releases, and Rockstar said the game will launch as a “single-player experience” — meaning the online multiplayer mode, historically the franchise’s largest long-term revenue source, will not be available at launch. Deferring multiplayer lets Rockstar ship the campaign on schedule while staging the online component separately, the part that drove years of post-release spending in the previous title.

GTA 6 is among the most anticipated entertainment releases of the year, and its pricing and rollout are watched as a signal for how the broader games industry prices and structures blockbuster titles.
