WHO chief 'really worried' as Ebola outbreak becomes third largest on record

STAT News

The World Health Organization’s director-general said he is “really worried” about an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda that has grown into the third largest on record, according to STAT News.

He framed the surrounding armed conflict as an even greater concern than the virus itself — a pointed assessment, because insecurity is what most often breaks an Ebola response. The combination of a large, cross-border outbreak and active conflict raises the risk of further spread before responders can contain it.
